Vaping substantially healthier than smoking

Landmark E-Cig Research: Vaping Substantially Improves Health

US vaping regulators’ damaging new laws have been halted by continued research conducted by UK experts that have revealed that smokers who switch to vaping considerably cuts health risks.

Published in the Annal of Internal Medicine, the research, showing a big reduction of toxic chemicals and carcinogens when smokers switched cigarettes for vaping, was compiled by researchers from University College London, Roswell Park Cancer Institutes in New York and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The research also dismissed some assertions that vaping is harmful to health and a gateway to cigarettes. Similarly, a recent study found that vaping is far safer and less toxic than smoking. Moreover, a study in January found that vaping is not a gateway to smoking. “You had researchers from both countries and the CDC involved in the planning and execution of the study for the first time,” Tony Abboud, executive director of the Vapor Technology Association.

“One of the biggest findings of the study, was that if people switch from tobacco cigarettes to vaping products, their health is substantially improved than if they continued smoking.”

“In the UK they’ve looked at all the science that exists and say vapour products are 95 percent safer than combustible cigarettes, and argue for that reason our government needs to be promoting them, not restricting them,” said Abboud.

“That mindset, which is based upon science, is held across the board in England.” It will be interesting to see whether the studies that have showed that e-cigarettes substantially improve health will be listened to by the FDA, the US e-cig regulators.
