Swedish Court Support E-Cigarettes by Overturning Decision

Sweden’s top court has reversed a decision made by the country’s Medical Products Agency to ban the sale of e-cigarettes, as their move was unlawful. The agency’s ban on e-cigarettes was short-lived, as they do not have the power to band non-medical products, which the devices are categorised as. The Court is demanding for e-cigarettes to be explored as a method to help people quit. "To be a medical product, it must have the ability prevent or treat a disease and, therefore, provide a beneficial effect on human health," the court said. “E-cigarettes do not contain instructions on how they could be used to reduce the consumption of cigarettes or nicotine addiction.” E-cigarette regulations are changing rapidly and widely varied throughout Europe.
