Vaping at Russia 2018? Here's what you need to know about taking your e-cig.

Vaping At The World Cup In Russia? All The Information You Need

With the World Cup beginning next month, English football fanatics will be making the journey to Russia to enjoy the football extravaganza. Whether you’re a fan of Ronaldo, Messi, Salah or Jordan Henderson…They’re all on show! Here’s what you need to know if you’re heading to Russia with your e-cig.

Russia is not a member state of the European Union, and thus is not subjected to the Tobacco Products Directive, meaning that e-cigarettes and vaping is a relatively unregulated industry in the country. Being left unregulated, the vaping market has thrived in Russia, with vape shops and vape cafes benefitting.

Some cities are looking at regulating e-cigarette use, so please have browse of the major cities’ e-cigarette laws before you travel. With this in mind, vaping is unaffected by the 2014 smoking ban in many public spaces, and vapers should feel free to vape where they want! Vaping near schools is banned, so please be watchful before you whip out your e-cigarette.

When you’re boarding the plane, ensure that your mods, batteries and e-cigarettes are stored safely in your hand luggage. Practically all airlines specify that they do not permit the use of e-cigarettes on their flights, although you should check with your airline before you travel.

With e-liquids, you cannot take bottles over 100ml in line with liquid regulations. Anything under 100ml is fine. The Russia 2018 Stadium Code of Conduct states that football fans are banned from “smoking in any stadium zone, except in dedicated outdoor smoking areas, if in existence”. However, there is no mention of vaping restrictions.

If you’re travelling to a match with your vape pen or kit, please check with stewards on hand to clarify. Who knows, there may even be vaping zones. Denis Manturov, Russian Minister of Industry and Commerce, supports e-cigarettes and helped ensure that the Moscow government differentiates e-cigarettes from traditional cigarettes, meaning that they’re taxed and regulated differently.
