As I’d never used the Elfa or Elfa PRO myself, I entered this review task having no idea what to expect. Both devices arrived with a prefilled pod already inserted, which was a pleasant surprise. After removing the instruction stickers from both Elfa pods, I was able to begin vaping right away without any hiccups or further setup necessary, and I was grateful to find that both Elfa vapes arrived with some battery life.

While these two Elf Bar devices are very similar, sporting the same battery size and pod capacity, the real differences can be found in the prefilled pods. While original Elfa pods feature a mesh coil, Elfa PRO pods house a QUAQ mesh coil. If that name rings a bell, you might have come across it in other vape models such as the Elf Bar V2 or the Lost Mary QM600. When comparing the flavour and feel of Elfa pods and Elfa PRO pods, they honestly couldn’t be more different. While the original Elfa delivers a tight, slightly restricted draw, much like the Elf Bar 600, the Elfa PRO serves up a deliciously light and airy vape which I find to be far more satisfying. I also must admit that Elfa PRO pods delivered better flavour and more potency overall, which is one of the key advantages of its QUAQ mesh coil.

It’s important to note that Elfa Pods and Elfa PRO pods are entirely interchangeable. This means that if you’re keen to try out the QUAQ mesh coil but don’t want to splash out on a whole new device, you can simply use Elfa PRO pods in your original Elfa device, and vice versa.

Ergonomics & Design Comparison

Right from the get-go, it was a challenge to tell the two devices apart. The packaging is identical, and it took me a while to notice the very small “Elfa PRO” text featured on the new Elfa box. Ans once removed from the packaging, it didn’t get any easier. Sat side-by-side, these two pod kits are almost indistinguishable. If it wasn’t for the differing colour palettes, I definitely would have lost track of which device was which.

Both the Elfa kit and Elfa PRO sport the iconic cylindrical pen-style shape that Elf Bar is renowned for, matching the same compact and portable measurements as their disposable vapes. The exterior of these Elfa vapes makes them difficult to tell apart, with each device featuring a smooth rubberised shell for additional grip. While I’m relieved that Elf Bar didn’t stray too far away from the original Elfa design, I do think the new Elfa PRO would benefit from some additional branding on the device itself to set it apart from its predecessor.

But once again, the real differences come down to the prefilled pods. Elfa Pods are known for sporting the same duckbill mouthpiece as Elf Bar disposables, making it a familiar choice for those making the transition to a pod kit. While Elfa Pro pods also feature a duckbill-style mouthpiece, it’s slightly wider than the original Elfa and boasts a larger airflow hole, which I personally prefer.

In my opinion, the best design difference between Elfa pods and Elfa PRO pods is that Elfa PRO pods are more transparent. I hated not knowing how much e-liquid was left in my Elfa pod, and their opaque design meant I had to predict when the pod was empty, which often meant using it until I was met with dry hits and an awful burned taste. When held up to the light, I can easily check how much vape juice is left in my Elfa PRO pods, allowing for a far more convenient and flavoursome experience.
