What is a Vape Kit?

A vape kit—sometimes called an e-cigarette—is, essentially, a device to help people quit smoking. Whilst cigarettes work through combustion, e-cigarettes work through vaporisation, thus the name ‘vapes.’ At a basic level, every vape kit consists of three core components: a battery, a coil, and a tank. The battery sends electrical current to the coil, which then heats up, with the resulting heat turning the e-liquid in the tank into vapour, which is then inhaled by the user.

Disposable Vapes

Disposable vapes are a relatively new arrival in the vaping industry, but are fast becoming one of the most popular choices for vape fans of all levels. They’re portable and pocket-friendly, making them a great choice for commuting and travelling, on nights out and for weekend getaways. Disposable vapes come pre-filled and pre-charged, so there’s no setup required.

Vape Pens

Like all vape kits, they consist of two core components: a battery compartment (the body), and a tank fitted with a mouthpiece. Unlike disposables, vape pens aren’t pre-loaded, but are still simple to set up. You’ll need to purchase your e-liquid separately, and then fill the tank according to your device’s instruction manual. Since they’re refillable and rechargeable, vape pens have a longer lifespan than disposable vapes, which makes them an excellent choice if you’re just starting out but know you’re ready to commit to vaping. Pod Vape Kits

Pod vape kits, like vape pens and disposables, are often slim, portable devices. Where they differ is that they use a style of detachable tank called a pod, which falls into two categories: closed pod and open pod.

Popular devices such as JUUL and Vuse are closed pod vapes. This means that you don’t have to refill your pods, and instead you simply switch to a fresh pod once your current one runs out. This puts them somewhere between a disposable and a vape pen; you won’t have to replace your entire kit every time, but you will need to purchase new pods. Open pod vapes are pod kits with refillable pods.

You simply detach the pod from the device body and fill it according to your user manual. Compared to closed pods, open pod kits such as those from Uwell, SMOK, and Voopoo often grant you more customisation. This lets you adjust settings such as voltage, wattage and resistance so that you can experiment with different types of vape hit. Advanced & Sub Ohm Vape Kits

In this final category we have advanced vape kits, which you may also see referred to as sub ohm vape kits or box mods. Such kits grant the highest level of user customisation, but also have the highest barrier of entry. As such, we typically do not recommend them for newer users.

Sub ohm vape kits are aimed at users who favour direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping, a vaping style that requires prolonged draws to produce massive amounts of vapour.
