What is a Starter Tank?

Vape tanks are an integral part of any vape kit. They’re made up of an e Liquid chamber, a cap (by which the liquid can be inserted) coils and wicking material (which heat up your chosen juice and turn it into vapour) and a drip tip (the long nozzle from which you inhale the vapour).

A starter tank contains all of these elements, so the only thing that differentiates it from others is the resistance of its integrated coil. We’ve written a detailed blog on resistance here, but to summarise, every coil, and therefore every tank, has resistance; it safely reduces electrical currents to a level which is safe for humans to use. There are two different types of resistance within vaping: Plus Ohm and Sub Ohm. If a coil’s resistance is below 1.0 Ohm, the tank is more suited to Sub Ohm vaping, great for producing large amounts of vapour. If the resistance of the coil is above 1.0 Ohm, it’s a Plus Ohm tank, packing a more flavoursome punch with less vapour every time you vape.

Whilst some starter tanks cater for both Sub Ohm and Plus Ohm vaping, they tend to be geared towards the latter, allowing you time to enjoy and get used to mind-boggling flavour and awe-inspiring clouds.

What e Liquid Should I put in my Starter Tank?

As starter tanks are often marketed towards beginners, they prioritise creating a balanced vape every time. To reflect this, we recommend that customers use 50PG/50VG e Liquids or higher PG liquids in their starter tanks.

Having an equal composition by no means makes your vape boring; in fact, some of the very best liquids are 50/50. Take the mouth-watering Blackberry Crumble e Liquid by Dinner Lady. It guarantees bursts of deliciously ripe berries and a luxuriously crumbly crunch with every vape—it’s almost as good as the actual dessert!

How many Cigarettes in a Vape Tank

Nicotine is added to vapes in certain strengths and the strength you’ll use all depends on how many cigarettes you used to smoke. For beginners, you’re able to pick your strength in store or at our online checkout so you don’t have to worry about adding it yourself, like more experienced vapers may choose to do.

We know that the journey to a smoke-free life looks different for everybody, but we’re determined to help you every step of the way. That’s why all our starter tank e Liquids come in a variety of strengths, from 0mg to 18mg.

3mg is the lowest nicotine strength, creating a familiar light buzz that is recommended for customers who were light smokers. The highest nicotine strength available in European countries is 18mg; it’s designed for customers who used to smoke over a pack of cigarettes a day and who still feel reliant on nicotine.

Whatever your strength, you don’t have to worry. Your starter tank will cater for them all and once you’ve been vaping a while, we advise that you begin to lower your nicotine consumption and our range of strengths means that you have the scope to do this comfortably.

Are Vape Tanks Interchangeable?

Many of the vape tanks that we sell are usually linked to a particular device, for example, we sell the Innokin Go S Tank, which is designed for the Innokin Go S Vape Pen, which we also sell. Buying the right tank for the right device is important; it means your kit will run as smoothly as possible. If you put a tank in an incompatible device, it may damage parts or worse, be unsafe to use.

If you’re unsure about what tank matches what device, make sure you come and talk to us. We’ll not only clear up any confusion regarding tanks and kits, but we’ll find you a brand that you’ll adore.

What are the Best Starter Tanks for Flavour?

Starter tanks are built for exquisite flavour, so rest assured, whichever tank you choose will deliver a taste sensation for with every inhale. Whilst the Aspire Nautilus 2 Tank is compatible with a range of high and low resistance coils, it really shines with Plus Ohm vaping. This is because it sports numerous airflow options which allows customers to control how they vape; simply restrict the airflow for a strong throat hit and widen them for more vapour.

Innokin are renowned for their excellent starter tanks, and whilst the Zenith is one of the pricier tanks on our list, it’s definitely worth it. This goal of this vaping pioneer was to create an intuitive part and they certainly succeeded. Its twist and fill tank design shuts off the flow of e Liquid once tank capacity has been reached, preventing leakages, however, the most exciting feature of this device is the drip tip. It’s curved to fit the mouth of the customer, ensuring that you’re able to inhale the optimum amount of vapour at all times.

What are the Best Starter Tanks on a Budget?

Don’t worry—with our curated list, you’ll be sure to find a great quality product at a price you’ll love even more! The cheapest tank will sell is the Innokin Go S at £3.49. Despite being disposable, it’s one of the most popular tanks on the market. This is because it’s suited to virtually all vape juices above 50 PG, meaning you have a delicious variety of e Liquid flavours and brands available to you.

Another wallet-friendly option is again by Innokin, the T18 Tank; not only does its unique top-fill system make it virtually impossible for spillages, but its innovative Japanese cotton wicking material ensures that you’ll always get a crisp and clean vape.
