Elf Bar are back again with a brand new range of disposable vape devices and this time, they’re stripping things back to basics. Reminiscent of the very first e-cigarette devices, the new Elf Bar Cigalike pays homage by recreating the simplistic style and shape that new users find so appealing. Designed with beginners in mind, the Cigalike sports an extremely compact frame and user-friendly design to make it as easy as possible to help customers quit smoking. While original cigalike-style devices lacked flavour and vapour production, Elf Bar Vape have breathed some new life into this once popular design thanks to their wide range of flavours and high-quality hardware.

If any brand is going to be capable of bringing back cigalikes, it’s going to be Elf Bar, so I’m curious to find out just how well these devices perform and if they’re worthy of a place in the ever-growing and overcrowded vape market of today. Well, that’s what I’m here to find out.

I’ve had the chance to try out the Elf Bar Cigalike for myself, and I’m ready to share my findings. This review will guide you through everything you need to know about this new disposable; covering its key features, design build, flavour varieties and performance to help you decide if it could be the right vape starter kit to kickstart your quit smoking journey. Elf Bar Cigalike Features

Much like their original flagship device that brought the brand much success, the Cigalike is a disposable vape, meaning I didn’t have to fuss around with setup and it arrived ready charged and pre-filled, allowing me to begin vaping as soon as it left the packet. This device arrives pre-filled with 1.6ml of 20mg nic salts, providing 17mg of nicotine in total, which is slightly weaker than their other disposables, but more on that later. Nevertheless, this nicotine content is certainly strong enough to keep beginner cravings at bay.

This 1.6ml capacity teamed with a 280mAh battery can deliver up to 400 puffs which is roughly the equivalent to 20 cigarettes, keeping most vape fans satisfied for up to a whole day. When it comes down to performance, I was very satisfied with the overall vaping experience these disposables provided. While I was expecting the same lack-lustre vapour production and poor flavour as early cigalike devices, I was pleasantly surprised that the Elf Bar Cigalike served up a powerful MTL experience complete with satisfying throat hits and consistent flavour.

Now, let’s turn our heads to the design and appearance.

Elf Bar Cigalike Ergonomics & Design

Perhaps the most striking feature of the Cigalike vape is its size and shape. Although I was aware that this disposable would be compact, upon removing the device from its packet, I was taken aback by just how small it was. Measuring in at just 4.5 inches tall, this e-cigarette truly is tiny, and may just be the smallest disposable vape I’ve ever tried. Sporting the same thin cylindrical shape as a real cigarette, the Cigalike is lightweight and almost undetectable in my hand, making it a great choice for those seeking a cigarette-style device that’s as discreet as it is portable.

While I’m a huge fan of its minimalistic design and believe it can be extremely helpful for those who have recently quit smoking, it doesn’t come without its flaws. After trying out the Cigalike for myself for a number of days, I began to notice a recurring problem; I kept inhaling on the wrong end of the device.

As the device is uniform and there are no identifying changes in shape to highlight which side is the mouthpiece, it’s incredibly easy to find yourself inhaling from the wrong side if you’re not paying attention, and it seems other users would agree. Inhaling on the wrong end of the Cigalike results in auto misfiring that is mildly frustrating, especially as it runs down the battery and can waste e-liquid in the long run.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the flavour options available.

Without a doubt, one of the best aspects of the Cigalike vape for me is its flavour range. When picking out flavours, I had a huge variety of profile options to choose from, including several well-known flavours as well as a few original blends I haven’t seen before. With 20 flavours in total, covering Elf Bar fan favourites such as Blue Razz as well as some new additions like Raspberry Orange Blossom, I wasn’t disappointed and found myself truly spoiled for choice, which is pretty rare when it comes to new devices that haven’t been on the scene very long.

Although Elf Bar tends to focus their efforts on exciting blends packed with fruit and sweet options, I was pleased to see that they’ve thrown in some Classic blends for their Cigalike range. Traditional flavour profiles such as Spearmint, Cream Tobacco, and Cappuccino are catered towards users who prefer stripped-back blends that aren’t too sweet. Now, let’s take a look at the other products Elf Bar has to offer.

Elf Bar Disposable Vape Ranges

As you’re probably already aware, Elf Bar is a leading name in the disposable vape scene and has been for quite some time. With a huge back catalogue of successful disposables including the Elf Bar 600, NC600, T600, CR500, MC600, the Cigalike is far from their only device. To get a better sense of how the Cigalike fits into their range as a whole, it’s a good idea to place it side by side with their other disposables.

Elf Bar are perhaps best known for their flagship device, the Elf Bar 600, which still remains incredibly popular today. This disposable revolutionised the industry and brought pen-style disposable vaping into the mainstream. When compared to the 600, it’s easy to see that the Cigalike is the clear winner when it comes down to portability and size. Although both devices boast the same cylindrical shape, the Cigalike is far smaller and more discreet than its predecessor.

Nevertheless, this small stature comes at a cost. Due to its small battery size and modest e-liquid capacity, the Cigalike won’t last as long as the Elf Bar 600. The 600 sports the usual 500mAh battery and 2ml e-liquid capacity that users have come to expect from a high-quality disposable as it keeps them covered for up to 600 puffs. It seems that Elf Bar have decided to sacrifice longevity in favour of size for the Elf Bar range, appealing purely to those who prioritise portability and shape above anything else.

Elf Bar Cigalike Market Comparison

As I touched upon earlier, the Elf Bar Cigalike is a recreation of some of the earliest e-cigarettes to hit our shelves over a decade ago. While the Cigalike is unarguably miles better than these original devices, it’s important to take a look at how it compares with some of the best-selling disposable devices available today.

One of the most popular cigalike-style devices on the market is the OK Cigalike. Although we don’t stock this ecig, you’ll often find them being sold at your local corner shop or petrol station and they’re specifically aimed at those who are trying to quit smoking. While this kit looks very similar to the Elf Bar Cigalike, these old school e-cigarettes lack the practical disposable format that customers love. Instead, you’ll have to get your hands on refills and regularly recharge them. The Elf Bar Cigalike gives the user all the usability and portability of an OK Cigalike, without having to commit to buying refills.

When thinking about other disposables that put size and shape at the forefront, I can’t help but draw comparisons to the Dinner Lady Vape Pen 2. Although this Dinner Lady looks worlds apart from the Cigalike, both devices have opted for a unique cigarette-style shape and design that’s more compact than traditional disposables. The Vape Pen 2 isn’t quite as small as the Cigalike, but it’s certainly petite. Its slimline design makes it easy to disguise in the palm of your hand and even easier to store in your pocket while on the move, but it’s quite a bit taller than the Cigalike in comparison.

Even when compared to the dainty and compact Vape Pen 2, the Cigalike is still the smaller device. This Dinner Lady vape contains slightly less e-liquid than the Cigalike but houses a slightly larger battery, meaning both devices provide users with up to 400 puffs. While this isn’t ideal as it’s far lower than other popular disposables, both these devices are available at a smaller price point that reflects this shorter lifespan. It’s clear to me that while the Cigalike has an edge over other ranges when it comes down to size and portability, improvements still need to be made to the pod capacity and puff count in order for it to reach the same level of success as other popular disposables.

After trying out the Cigalike for myself over the past few weeks, it’s safe to say I’m a huge fan. The tight MTL draw, huge range of flavours and sleek compact design is impressive to say the least, but most importantly, it’s probably one of the best beginner-friendly devices I’ve used that’s specifically designed to help smokers make the transition to vaping.

The nic salt composition paired with the MTL draw and sleek stature makes this a great stepping stone for those trying to quit smoking. So if you’re looking for a disposable device that truly mimics the feel, appearance and sensation of smoking a real cigarette, the Cigalike is the best option out there.

However, as I already mentioned, it does come with its downsides. Besides its design flaws and misfiring issues, the Cigalike doesn’t last as long as other disposables, so you’ll find yourself needing to restock sooner. Nevertheless, the vapour production and flavour provided by the Cigalike certainly hits the spot, placing it on-par with its competitors in the disposable vape industry.

On the whole, the Elf Bar Cigalike is undeniably a great disposable device to aid beginner users and help them achieve their quit smoking goals. And if you prioritise size and portability above all else, the Cigalike could be the perfect device for you. However, if you’re not particularly keen on cigarette-style devices and are not on the hunt for a disposable that mimics the look and feel of a real cigarette, then you’re better off opting for a regular pen-style disposable with a larger e-liquid and battery capacity.
